In/Exhale: Season 2 Cover Reveal

It’s finally time! After much delay and fanfare, the ebook for In/Exhale: Season Two is almost here. I have a few final touches to do to the kindle version, and we’ll be ready to go live!

However, in the mean time I’m going to whet your appetites with the brand-new cover I came up with, with a little help from the talented InkDevil.

*drum roll*

Upcoming Series: In/Exhale Character Bios

Hey, everyone! The third season of In/Exhale will be starting up shortly, and I know there’s a huge cast of characters to keep track of. So I thought it might be fun to have a character list and every week (or so) feature a new character!

These bios will include an artist-drawn representation (for the major players), basic physical description, age, etc., along with some important plot info and background on the character. There’ll also be a quote and an excerpt for each, and I’ll try hard not to have any spoilers in any of this information.

We’ll start the series off next week with Kai (of course, we have to start with the main character, right?), which will include a stunning realistic portrait of him by InkDevil I can’t wait for you to see.

I’ve been delayed working on the Season 2 ebook because of my headache, sadly, but I’m hoping I’ll have it out soon.

Thanks everyone for your support, and I’ll see you all next week for our new feature!

Disability and Sexuality in Art: An Interview with InkDevil

"Wrap Your Arms Around Me"

“Wrap Your Arms Around Me”

Those of you who follow me here or on twitter know that one of the reasons I write is to try to tear down some stigmas and cultural stereotypes that people with disabilities are asexual, or that sex with someone who has a disability is wrong or disgusting. Society at large tends to infantilize people with disabilities, and I try to do my small part to attempt to change that.

I recently came across an artist who has a similar goal with her artwork. She goes by the name InkDevil and is a 42-year-old woman living in middle England. She works full time in the construction industry, but art is her passion. She’s taken it upon herself to try to change some of the stigmas of disability and sex through her art, which, though explicit, is far from pornography. Instead, her work shows the beauty of the sexual act with an individual with a disability.

She’s had several PWDs (and their partners) volunteer to model for her, and she’s always looking for new models. If you’re interested in volunteering, you can contact her via email at deviledink(at)outlook.com.

I recently had the opportunity to chat with her and ask her some questions about her art. The interview is below, along with some samples of her work.

**Warning: Some of the artwork included in the interview below is explicit.**

To Each Her Own Review

Title: To Each Her Own

Author: Molly Mirren

Available in eBook?: Yes

Genre: Contemporary M/F Romance

Final Verdict: Buy

My Take: The subject of devoteeism–people who have a sexual attraction to disability–isn’t tackled often in the media. Ruth Madison’s novel (W)hole, (second edition reviewed here) is in some ways a pioneer in the genre, and a couple films have also touched on the subject, but usually not so much from the perspective of the devotees themselves. To Each Her Own, for better or worse, makes devoteeism a central conflict, as it continually drives the two love birds, Jay and Erin, apart and together, apart and together, like metallic pendulum balls in those desktop “executive toys.”

In/Exhale: Season 3 – Tentative Schedule

I know Season 3 is long, long overdue, and I’m sorry for that, but I promise it will be amazing. We’ll get to know some of our old favorite characters as well as meet a few new ones I hope you’ll fall in love with.

I have the first part of the season nearly finished, and that should hopefully take long enough to post that I’ll get to finish the next part while it’s posting weekly so I won’t need to take a mid-season break. I also expect this season to be the longest yet.

It’s possible that February 15 may be the end of Season 3, and after a brief recess (and it WILL be brief this time–I promise!) I’ll resume with the after affects of that day as Season 4. I’ll just have to see how things go.

So here’s the tentative schedule for Season 3.

I Hope You Dance

I know it’s been a while. These past few months have been really difficult for me. I’ve been dealing with a chronic daily migraine since January. Literally, a headache that started months ago and has not gone away since it started. Along with that, trying to finish the semester and dealing with medication side effects and all that goes with it. Things have been rough. Hoping this summer will be easier for me and I’ll get more posted here and Season 3 of In/Exhale will finally begin. For now, enjoy this song. It’s an oldie, from 2000, but it popped in my head today and made me think of what Kai’s been going through in what I’ve been writing of Season 3 right now, and especially since it was temporally accurate, I figured I’d post it.

The message of the song is all about taking chances when they come along, even though they might be scary. It’s about not giving up.

Enjoy, and thanks for those of you who have stuck with me despite everything. I really appreciate it it.

Living might mean taking chances,
but they’re worth taking.
Loving might be a mistake,
but it’s worth making.

With 2015 on the Horizon…

I know it’s been a while since I blogged. I am sorry. I’ve been tangled up in more than one way lately, and that’s the simplest way to put it.

In/Exhale: Season Two Excerpt

So a lot has been going on in my life lately, and I know I didn’t post last week at all, and I apologize for that. NaNoWriMo is not going as well as I would have liked, but I have been working on In/Exhale, both the long-overdue S2 ebook and S3.

So for now, enjoy this excerpt from S2. I hope I can have the ebook finished by the end of the month. 🙂

NaNoWriMo 2014

Hard to believe that National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is almost here already! This year I will be participating again, though with my busy schedule, I’m not sure how far along I’ll get.

For this year’s project, I’m going to expand on a short story with the working title “Five Minutes to Midnight,” which was inspired by a song with the same name.
