In/Exhale Now on AO3

Screenshot 2019-12-23 at 1.05.54 PMIn/Exhale is now on AO3! Read it here.

If you follow me on tumblr, you may have noticed that I’ve been posting a lot on Archive of Our Own (aka AO3) lately. It’s normally a home for fan fiction, which I have been writing a lot of in the past six months or so, but you can also apparently post original work there as well.

A friend suggested that I post In/Exhale there as another way to reach an audience. It’s a bit more reader-friendly, especially on mobile, than reading on the original blog or here on my site, so in case that’s turned you off of reading it in the past, or you’d like to read it again (and ebooks aren’t your thing), you now have another opportunity.

I’m planning on posting the entire completed three seasons, updating weekly as much as my health allows. Once I start posting the next season (season 4), I’ll probably post both on the original blog and on AO3, if it seems enough people are interested in it.

Please feel free to leave comments and kudos on the AO3 version if you decide to (re) read! I could use the motivation to get back into my original work.

Happy International Disability Day

day_for_allToday is a day to spread awareness about disability and the disability community. Obviously, this is an important topic for me, dear to my heart, but there are so many great disability activists out there than can address it better than I can.

Reworking Last Year’s NaNoWriMo

So it’s hard to believe that NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is almost here. I’ve been thinking lately of reworking last year’s project (Love UnSeen) as my current (unofficial) NaNo project for 2016.

I’ve been stuck on this story for months, and I thought about how easily In/Exhale comes to me (relatively; I still do plenty of rewrites and shuffling of scenes there) and thought maybe it was worth rewriting Love UnSeen and posting it on a regular basis (not sure if I could manage weekly, but that would be my goal), then taking your feedback to help me shape the story until I got a first draft finished.

The problem is that the blog where I post I/E won’t allow a single author to post on more than one day of the week, and I honestly am not sure if I could manage posting both I/E and Love UnSeen at the same time, especially with having to actually write and format each episode of each story weekly.

However, historically I haven’t gotten a lot of feedback here, and I don’t know how helpful the process will be without it.

So I’m kinda stuck. I’m also stuck because the current way I post stuff here (via a google docs plugin, that little window you see when you read an I/E chapter here) doesn’t play well with mobile, and I know that nowadays most people actually use their phone/tablet more than their computer.

So if I DID post here, I’d have to figure out some way to make it more mobile-friendly, too.

Sorta rambling to myself, I guess, but just wanted to give a kinda heads up that these are the things I’ve been working on lately, in addition of course, to continuing to work on  I/E as always.

In/Exhale – S3 Continuing August 8

Update: I wasn’t able to finish the synopsis (“Previously on…”) in time, so I pushed the start date up a week to August 8. I’ll be posting the synopsis as soon as I finish it. I apologize for the delay.

Hey, everyone, I’m still around. It’s been a crazy past couple weeks, adjusting to a new medication and dealing with the effects of my Botox treatment wearing off weeks before my next one. . . .

Anyway, I’m proud to announce that I’m going to go ahead and begin posting the rest of In/Exhale, Season 3, starting next Monday, August 1, on the blog. I know I always posted on Tuesdays, but it looks like all the days are taken except Monday and Friday, and Friday I tend to have doctor appointments, so Monday is best. And what better way to start the week than with a dose of Kai and Renee?

Once an entire chapter (day) is complete on the blog, I’ll post it here. But if you follow me on social media (especially Google + for immediate updates), you’ll never miss an episode.

Thanks to all my loyal readers!

PS – I’m going to try to write up a “Previously On” to help catch everyone up!

In/Exhale: Season Three – Posting Weekly Here!

So traditionally, I’ve always posted the weekly episodes of In/Exhale on a story blog, and not here. However, I’ve given it a lot of thought and I’m going to begin posting the third season here as well, starting Tuesday.

My plan is that new episodes will post first on the story blog, and then here the following week. So, starting Tuesday, episode two will go live on the story blog while episode one is posted here. It gives people who follow that blog the first chance to read the story, but also enables those who would prefer to read it here, on my blog, the opportunity to do so without having to wait for the ebook at the end of the season.

I do encourage you to comment, whether here or there, and I hope you’ll enjoy the upcoming season.

BMD Awareness Week: Oct 5-11

One thing I discovered while doing research for UnConventional was how few people knew what Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy was (or had even heard of it). In fact, it’s one reason I decided to go with that disease while I was planning out the book. If I could do my small part to increase awareness of MD and BMD in particular, and in the process show that men with these diseases are still men who deserve to live happy lives full of love and sex, then why not?

October 5-11 is officially Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week, and it happens to coincide perfectly with the release of UnConventional on October 14!

Drug Shows Potential for Treating Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy

An experimental drug called eteplirsen has shown potential as a treatment for Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc. announced today. The drug, which so far has shown no serious side effects, enabled boys to walk longer than those who received placebo. Most significantly, eteplirsen was shown not only to help in maintaining current muscle mass, but also in repairing damaged muscle.
